Maitland Lutheran School Senior Stage One

Hodgkison has engaged with the Maitland Lutheran School Community to develop a Masterplan to help the school grow to meet the evolving needs of their teachers, families, and students. Projects consist of a mix of new construction and additions to existing buildings.
Completed in Spring 2023, the new senior secondary school building focuses on the needs of the students and teaching staff. We focused on providing a light filled, contemporary teaching space that facilitates learning in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
The senior spaces and amenities were designed around biophilic design, an essential need drawn from consultation with senior students.
Key to this project were:
- Indoor and outdoor communal spaces, providing space both for learning, collaboration, and socialising.
- Adjustable learning areas, allowing teachers to adapt and open-up space to suit the needs of their lessons while they are teaching, while being comfortable for students to work in.
- New science lab, teaching preparation, staff administration and metal working spaces, providing students and staff with the resources they need to collaboratively teach and learn specialised skills.
