Hodgkison’s staged development of an operational regional residential aged care and independent living facility improved resident, visitor and staff experience. All areas of the site were touched to create a welcoming, easy to navigate environment with maximised connection to outdoor spaces.
Our extensive briefing with a changing executive team had Hodgkison explore relevant opportunities based on our knowledge of current models of care and best practice.
Bed numbers were increased from 27 to 35 and included single, double and accessible bedroom options in the new configuration. The building classification also changed, stimulating a fire upgrade to the entire facility. Further security upgrades included CCTV, DECT phones, annunciators, nurse call, fencing and keypad entry. Compliance upgrades to the existing buildings meant existing doors and corridors were widened, and ensuites reconfigured.
The Porte Cochere was heightened to provide safe access and complaint emergency vehicular access. These works, along with the driveway re-alignment, settles the existing building on the site.
The extension of new accommodation suites to the West were sympathetic to the existing architecture.
The Staff Hub and facility fitouts, including a brand new reception, set the tone for the modernised vibe, while still catering to the needs and aesthetics of the local clientele.
New multipurpose rooms and an upgrade to the exterior corridors provided addition rest areas and places for residents and their families to connect.
